More on working with PDFs
Re: Editing PDFs for searchable notes by Bill_DeVille on Fri Oct 09, 2009 7:36 pm rez wrote: Thanks Bill —- could you say more about said kludges of infamy? So I’m guessing there’s no way at present — either using DT, Skim, or Preview — to have annotated PDFs the DT database whereby the notes are searchable, without any exporting or other type of...

Nice discussion of a PDF-heavy work flow.
Alan H February 21, 2010 I just want to record here for other people how I am using Sente to make notes for a large project, in hopes that this will help some others. My method is not unique, and is based on Mark S’s suggestions here. Similar suggestions have also been made in the DevonThink forums. My biases are that (a) I don’t like to be committed long-term to any proprietary...

Adding Spotlight Comments – Overcoming Finder’s... →
I find it remarkable that this conversation is still going on. Here, a post dated 2010, about automating Spotlight Comments, is perhaps the best all around guide I’ve seen. I recall that these discussions began when, in 2004? Now that it’s all laid out we’ll probably get tagging at the system level in OS XI. I can hear the OpenMeta guys weeping already…

Making a Reading Notebook From a Private Web Site →
Sometimes we just get away from ourselves. I wrote up the post below, built the web site discussed, actually got the whole thing up and functioning nicely. That was before I saw that InstaPaper already had an excellent clipping function built in, out of the box, already there and waiting for me, and that it would do the exact same thing as the system I designed. So let the attached be a memorial...

Modifying the InfoBase for the iPad →
A comment on another post asked, “how’s it going with PlanText?” And the short answer is, not so well. Not that the application is not wonderful. I find PlainText to be the best of the iPad/iPhone note taking and writing applications available. It’s better than Elements (which I find aesthetically unattractive) iAWriter (which I find functionally constrictive) and SimpleNote (which is...

Scribblet →
Nice, elegant note application with nested folders. Shame it saves files only as as RTF, (no text file option), and shame the files are saved only in Library (no ability to move them to DropBox).
